Bristol Beacon
At Farmington, we were proud to be part of the once-in-a-generation transformation of the Grade II-listed Bristol Beacon (formerly Colston Hall).
RESTORATION AND STONE CLEANING
This four-year restoration project had a complex brief: introducing state-of-the-art comfort and technology suitable for a modern music venue whilst maintaining the authenticity and history of such an iconic concert hall.
Farmington worked closely with the architect, conservation officer, and Historic England to ensure the integrity of the original stone was preserved as far as possible. Where this was not viable, we instead helped manufacture terracotta tiles and bricks, hand-producing ornamental stone sections to closely match the existing features.
Another important element of the work was the restoration and conservation of the various historical plaques situated around the venue.
We also assisted in cleaning and restoring vast areas of the venue, including the original Victorian features and design. For this, we implemented ThermaTech stone and brick cleaning, and chemical poultices, for removing up to six layers of lead paint.
If you have a restoration project, reach out to our team to discuss how Farmington can help.
